The subjects comprise the ground floor and basement of a three storey and basement, midterraced, traditional building of pointed granite stonework construction, with a pitched slate roof over. The upper levels of the building are in residential use and are outwith the subjects under consideration. To the front, the subjects themselves have a timberframed single glazed frontage, with a pedestrian doorway adjacent.
Internally, the subjects provide an open-plan retail space to the ground floor, with a staff kitchen and customer WC to the rear. The basement comprises treatment rooms, staff accommodation and a further WC to the basement. The ground floor retail space is of painted plasterboard lined walls and ceilings, with a laminate floor over. Artificial lighting is provided to the ground floor via a mix of recessed spotlighting, spotlighting-on-tracks and chandelier lighting. Whilst the downstairs of the subjects hosts a mix of a carpet and laminate flooring, and provides two further treatment rooms, as well as further staff accommodation.
