THE BARMER HALL ESTATE
Barmer | Syderstone | Norfolk | PE31 8SR
LET AGRICULTURAL AND RESIDENTIAL ESTATE
First identified in William White's History, Gazeteer, and Directory of Norfolk (1845), The Barmer Hall Estate has remained largely intact since the 19th Century. Whilst the Hall was demolished in 1956 the original walled garden, traditional barn and Farmhouse still stand as tribute to the heritage of the Estate.
The Estate has been in the same family since 1806, the same year that Admiral Horatio Nelson received a state funeral and was interred in St Paul's Cathedral, London.
The Estate comprises a predominantly let portfolio in a single block including a let farm and farm buildings (under the terms of a farm business tenancy), residential property, caravan park and in-hand woodland ideally located in one of the most stunning parts of North West Norfolk.
The farm extends to approximately 430.70 hectares (1,064.28 acres) in total, of which the majority 374.60 hectares (925.66 acres) is arable land. There is also 44.94 hectares (111.05 acres) of woodland which is commercially managed in hand and 5.97 hectares (14.75 acres) of permanent pasture, the balance being buildings yards and tracks. This variation in terrain, and the positioning of the woodland parcels provides sporting interest in driven and wild game and offers a buyer significant sporting opportunity.
Potatoes, parsnips, sugar beet, maize, winter wheat, spring barley and oilseed rape all form part of the rotation and have been grown in rotation for several years, reliably producing sound yields. Outdoor pigs also form part of the rotation.
The Estate is located in the rural hamlet of Barmer which lies north west of the village of Syderstone and east of Great Bircham, Norfolk.
Only 8 miles north of Barmer is the popular village of Burnham Market, which is considered a gateway to the North Norfolk Coast with its vast sandy beaches, wildlife rich salt marshes and the fine estates of Holkham and Houghton. As well as offering good local services including post office, butcher and fishmonger, Burnham Market provides galleries, delis, boutique shopping and hotels and restaurants. The market town of Fakenham is 9 miles due south east by car and provides supermarkets and other larger scale outlets. The Cathedral City of Norwich is 35 miles to the south east. Norwich offers a full range of amenities including shops, entertainment, theatre, education and is the terminus of the railway line from Norwich to London Liverpool Street, which can be reached in 1 hour 45 minutes.
Norwich Airport, on the northern outskirts of the city, provides easy access to European and international destinations, the latter via Schiphol (Amsterdam).
The Barmer Hall Estate is for sale by private treaty as a whole.
